Nikon D3100
Mid August 2010 Nikon introduced the successor of the Nikon D3000: the Nikon D3100. This so called entry level digital SLR has become some improvements and extra features. The sensor has got 14.2 Mp., live view with AF, HD-movie recording (and via Eye-Fi wireless transfer) and a connector for playing images and HD-movies on any HD-TV set. The camera features dust reduction system and a scene selector to make photography with this camera foolproof. The camera was introduced together with a 'kit lens': Zoom-Nikkor 3.5-5.6/18-55 mm. G-VR. The camera will only function 100% when using AF-S and AF-I Nikkor lenses as it will not drive older AF- or non-AF lenses. For more details see the matrix. Early September 2011 Nikon Deutschland (= Germany) introduced a special edition - technically identical to the regular Nikon D3100 though - for sale via the well-known internet shop amamzon.de only. It is a very rare move of Nikon to abandon the conservative colours - black and chrome/silver - of SLR cameras. A pity is - however - that this nice camera will not be available elsewhere.
